Planting Day Success!

17th November 2018

On a bright sunny Saturday afternoon, 60-70 people turned up at the NW corner of the playing field to plant 40 varieties of tree including apple, pear and a quince. The trees were carefully staked, had a shelter put round them, and a good layer of mulch added around the base of each. The tree shelters are particularly needed as there are a lot of rabbits and muntjac deer in the vicinity. Several villagers have said they would volunteer to help maintain the orchard and the surrounding area.

The afternoon was capped off with a wonderful array of cakes and tea, served in the Village Hall afterwards. It was an excellent community occasion, which we hope to replicate in the future.
